Healthcare Computing survive snow and ice
Healthcare Computing successfully managed to provide full Service Desk capabilities during the snow and ice that caused disruption for many companies in the UK.
Richard Hiett Service Manager says “Although a reduced engineering service was agreed with PCT’s due to unavoidable driving conditions, we were able to provide our full service desk facility including remote support for surgeries, This was achieved by having 80% of our service desk staff working from home using our state of the art VPN solution implemented for scenarios like this”
Healthcare Computing have a disaster recovery plan to ensure we can always continue to support our customers mission critical NHS services. But the success was mainly thanks to live testing specific to a bad weather scenario, the live testing was initiated just days before the bad weather struck after receiving automated notifications from the met office advising that bad weather was on its way.
