Corrupt McAfee update has been fixed

Posted by Andy Morley Software Developer on Monday, 17 May, 2010

Last month McAfee released a corrupt DAT file (5958) that could have caused issues with Windows. The update included detections for malware variants, but falsely indentified a threat on the svchost.exe Windows system file, which resulted in your PC not booting anymore.

McAfee have successfully rolled out the new updates, which have resolved all problems.

Please be aware that the latest McAfee DAT file released by McAfee overnight is corrupted. The update can cause issues with Windows, and can stop your PC from booting.  If you reboot your workstation, this action will result in the workstation going into a boot loop.
