Kerry,

We are already investigating pushing out the Blocker via ZENworks. We are thoroughly testing this solution before pushing it out.

We will update our advice as soon as we have more information, but to ensure that the Browser Choice Prompt doesn't appear in the mean time please continue to run the blocker manually. Applying the Blocker twice will not cause further issues.

Please note: This potential solution applies to Hampshire PCT practices only. Practices within all other PCTs covered by Healthcare Computing Support should apply this blocker manually as previously described.

David, thanks for raising this question.

Currently, the latest version of Internet Explorer is version 8 - which does not fully support C&B at this time. The Browser Choice prompt offers version 8 of Internet Explorer, not version 7.

We have recommended not to change your version of Internet Explorer to prevent users from accidentally upgrading to version 8. At this time, the supported browsers for C&B are Internet Explorer 6 and 7, and this recommendation follows these guidelines. Our recommendation is a general request to stop users from installing any of the 12 unsupported browsers offered by the Browser Choice prompt.

If you are confident of upgrading IE to version 7 yourself, then please do, however our engineers will be able to perform this upgrade for you if you raise it with our Service Desk team.

You say that you do not reccomend updating the version of internet explorer... however 'Connecting For Health' have already released a statement a few weeks ago clearly stating that all GP surgeries should be upgrading their browsers from IE6 to IE7 due to the security risks of staying with IE6. They have stated that 7 has now been tested on all applications (Choose & Book etc). The majority of surgeries are still on IE6 from what I can tell, so this advice would seem to have a fairly big gap in it!
